The laboratory
March 19, 2025One of the recent posts in Kello highlighted an interactive book, Nature Of Code, which completely captivated me during a train ride. It explores p5js and the simulation of natural phenomena through code. Upon returning home, I decided I wanted to try implementing the examples and exercises myself—creative programming and nature simulation are genuinely enjoyable.
The process of studying took longer than expected, not due to laziness, but because I was deeply engaged. Some of the exercises were particularly intriguing, sparking a desire to incorporate my own elements and mechanics. I also wanted a place to document these efforts, which reminded me of a long-standing idea: creating a dedicated section on my website for small experiments.
As a result, a /lab page was added to my site, showcasing my work based on the book. Some of the projects are interactive, allowing interaction via mouse or keyboard, while others are simple animations governed by physical forces or Perlin noise.
Judging by the book’s content, there’s still a wealth of fascinating topics ahead—from fractals to genetic algorithms. For now, though, the focus remains on motion!
